Daily Trips June to August
From May through July numerous birds, including eagles, waterfowl, kingfishers, merlin,
heron and songbirds congregate in the biologically diverse riparian areas adjacent to Bella
Coola Valley's rivers and streams, flourishing in the lush coastal temperate rain forest.
Small mammals including otter, mink, fox, beaver and deer are also commonly seen.
Black bears are active throughout most of the summer and fall throughout the Bella Coola
Valley and chances of seeing single bears or family groups is favourable on any trip!!! For a
period of a few weeks in August and September, grizzly bears congregate along the river
banks, stalking the Pacific salmon that will supply their energy and fat reserves for their

Your Guides at Kynoch West Coast Adventures combine several years of leadership and
participation in outdoor adventure travel with professional careers in fisheries and
environmental biology. Kynoch West Coast Adventures was formed to fill a niche long ago
identified by the founders to help develop backcountry and coastal pursuits throughout BC's
Central Coast, bringing the adventure of untamed wilderness within the grasp of those willing
to venture into it!!!
Kynoch Adventures was established by partners Holly Willgress & Fraser Koroluk. Prior to
operating Kynoch Adventures Holly & Fraser spent countless hours as biologists
surveying the Central Coast as part of fisheries, marine environment and forestry
projects. Numerous days spent in the field on boats, in helicopters & planes and on the
ground in soggy wet tents left lasting impressions on them both and they knew they
had to share their experiences with others.
From Princess Royal Island to Cape Caution their job allowed them to see remote coastal
inlets and bays, high alpine areas and isolated river reaches and lakes, where few if any
persons had gone before in recent history. Together their passion for the region, its
natural history and the people that live there in their own unique styles, drew them
permanently back to the Bella Coola Valley, where they operate the Brockton House Inn
and Kynoch Adventures.
Kynoch West Coast Adventures took on the name from Kynoch Inlet in Fiordland
Recreation Area Where Holly & Fraser first worked together in the region and where
many true adventures unfolded.
Holly Willgress was raised in Squamish with Whistler as her playground and she still decided to move
to Bella Coola!!! Holly's background in SCUBA Diving and marine boating lends itself nicely to the Central
Coast. A PADI SCUBA instructor and Coast Guard trained coxswain Holly will get you there, get you wet
and get you back... Holly has long instructed diving, has led technical courses in GPS mapping in coastal
areas and received Coast Guard rescue and boating training off the West Coast of Vancouver Island at
the Coast Guard's grueling RHIOT school. An occupational SCUBA diver Holly has worked on fisheries and
dive assessments throughout BC and has traveled, dived and kayaked abroad.
As a fisheries & environmental technician Holly does wildlife and nature interpretation with guests as well
as salmon snorkeling and boating activities in the river and inlets, including wonderful trips to coastal hot
springs. Her marine habitat interpretation and marine animal identification skills are testimony to her
thousands of logged commercial and recreational dives throughout BC.
Holly's parents John & Gail were pioneers in BC Parks, where John was a Back Country Ranger for over
25 years and was later fundamental in establishing numerous Provincial Parks in BC. Needles to say Holly
spent a lot of her time as a child in the backcountry fishing and hiking with the folks...
Fraser Koroluk called Bella Coola Home for most of his life, working for the Department of Fisheries
before completing the Canadian Outdoor Leadership Training (C.O.L.T) programme at Strathcona Park
Lodge, where he later led trips and instructed outdoor pursuits. Between climbing and traveling his
teens and twenties away, mixed with a two and half year bicycle trip through Central and South
America Fraser developed backcountry skills that would prove useful in his later career as a fisheries
biologist. Outdoor training has included Canoe Instructor certification, Wilderness First Aid, search and
rescue, land based leadership, and swift water rescue.
Various training coupled with a passion for adventure has allowed Fraser to participate in numerous
expeditions, ranging from trekking in the Andes, mountaineering in BC and Alaska and overland
backcountry cycling in Australia, New Zealand and the Americas, including a rare bicycle crossing of the
near impenetrable jungles of the Darien Gap between Panama and Colombia.
Fraser's parents Les & Betty built Bockton House Inn in 1996 on the original site of their family home.
Les had a long established fishing and charter operation in Bella Coola, providing river drift fishing in Bella
Coola and fly-in remote fishing in Kimsquit River. Les is still actively guiding wildlife viewing and scenic
river trips throughout the Bella Coola Valley.
Eco-Rafting is a popular family-friendly activity and an excellent way for groups to discover the hidden areas of the Central Coast and great Bear Rainforest in complete comfort.
Bella Coola, the Real BC.
